Margaret Izetta Gillispie 63 of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa went to be with her Lord on July 7, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. She accepted Jesus and was baptized by her son on February 19, 2006. She died peacefully in her sleep at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center with her family at her bedside.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 10, 2006, at 10:30 a.m. New London Christian Church. Rev Rod Cooper will officiate. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call after 3:00 p.m. on Sunday July 9th at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Henry County Hospice of Central Iowa.
Margaret was born on January 1, 1943, in Stroud Oklahoma, the daughter of William K. & Izetta Caudill Baxter. She married Kenneth L. Gillispie on April 30, 1960 in Garden City, Kansas. They had a very strong love for each other that carried them though life. She attended school in Garden City, Kansas. She worked at IAAP in Middletown for 8 years, and 32 years at Dial Corp in Fort Madison, retiring due to her health in 2003. Margaret loved spending time with her family, shopping, going out for dinner, reading and crocheting.
Surviving to honor her memory is her husband Ken, three daughters Anneta Hungerford of Mt. Pleasant, Tina Johnson and her husband Jim of Parkville, Missouri, and Melissa Gillispie of Mt. Pleasant. Two sons Gary Gillispie and friend Kim of Newton and Ed Gillispie and his wife Karen of Davenport. One stepson Michael Gillispie and his wife Marsha of Colorado and a stepdaughter Becky Larson and friend Eric of Kansas. 12 grandchildren, 9 step grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and 7 step great grandchildren.
Four brothers, Jim Baxter and his wife Hazel of Medicine Lodge Kansas, George Baxter and his wife Kay of Miami Oklahoma, Carl Baxter and his wife Kay of Keosauqua, Iowa and Bill Baxter of Mt. Pleasant. Three sisters, Mona Gates and her husband David, and Anna Loyd and her husband Carl all of New London and June Moeller of Salem. A very special Aunt Ruth Beeler of Lancaster, Missouri. Many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Eugene and David and her beloved pets Holly Ann and Shy Ann.
