Marion Edith Watson, 89, formerly of Salem passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2016; at her daughter's home.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at 2:30 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Jim Luder officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to HCI Care Services or to the Salem Crew Public Library in her memory.
Marion was born on May 24, 1926,in Henry County the daughter of Ross Arnold & Lois Edna Alter Garmoe. She attended elementary school up to the 8th grade at Glasgow, Iowa and went on later to earn her GED. She was united in marriage to Virgil Everett Watson on September 22, 1945, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995, and he preceded her in death on May 19, 2005.
She worked at the Mental Health Institute in Mt. Pleasant for 19 years. She loved reading, gardening, sewing, quilting, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren. During her life time, Marion cared for several family members including her husband's parents, daughter Jean, and her husband Everett. She was a member of the Salem Friends Church.
Marion is survived by her daughter, Cheri (Melvin) Sanders of Donnellson, 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, one brother Ross Garmoe and one sister Leila Spearman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughters; Eileen, Jean and Lois, her sons; Allen and Dean, and her brothers and sisters; Chase, Inez, Margaret, Audrey and Cathy.
