Martha Pratt Obituary

Martha L. Pratt, 79, of Salem passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at her home in Salem. 

 Martha was born on May 14, 1945, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Edward Scott and Beulah Elmire (Bailey) Watson. After the death of her father in 1950, her mother remarried to Oliver Goldsmith.  Martha was united in marriage to William R. Pratt on June 23, 1962, in Salem.   He preceded her in death on February 24, 2020.

 Martha was well known as the pie lady.  Over the years she made many pies for several restaurants and people who ordered them.  She cooked at various places such as for the Salem School and Southeastern Community College.  Martha and Bob enjoyed square dancing.   She was attending the Faith Christian Outreach Church. 

 She is survived by her children, Dawn (Jim) Tomson of Salem, Mark Pratt of Mt. Pleasant and Doug (Melissa) Pratt of Salem, her grandchildren, Heather, Drake, Brady, Brittanie, Sophia and Nathanial and her great grandchildren, Oliver, Holden, Brantley, Declan, Cohen and Rogrik.

 Martha was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Loren Watson.

 Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, with Pastor Gary VanNyhuis officiating.  Burial will follow in the Salem East Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening.  A memorial has been established in her memory.
