Mary Swailes Obituary
Mary Lou Swailes 66 of Wayland, Iowa passed away on Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 26, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Gary Vannyhuis officiating. Burial will be in the North Hill Cemetery north of Wayland. Friends may call after 1:00 pm on Sunday at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4. A memorial has been established in her memory and maybe left at the funeral home.
Mary Lou was born on July 4, 1940, at Keosauqua, Iowa the daughter of Harrison & Hazel Fisher Jones. She was raised by Ralph & Beulah Osborne. She graduated from Wayland High School in 1959, and was united in marriage to Harold Swailes on March 19, 1960. She worked at Vega in Mt. Pleasant and was a cook at the Cozy Café for a number of years. She enjoyed playing bingo, crossword puzzles and phase 10.
She is survived by her children: Artie Swailes and his wife Cami of Wayland, Bruce Swailes and his wife Sherry of West Chester and Treasa Swailes of Iowa City. 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. 6 brothers: Ralph Osborne of Brighton, Robert Osborne of Bettendorf, Ron Jones of Mt. Pleasant, Edgar Jones of California, Harrison Jones and Eddie Jones both of Washington. 1 sister: Sara Grisham of Burlington. Her companion Bobby Savage of Wayland.
She is preceded in death by her parents, 1 grandson Brandon, 1 sister Cheryl Osborne and 1 brother David.
