Mayme B. Littrell 92 of Mt. Pleasant and former resident of Salem passed away on Monday, March 17, 2008, at Park Place in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2008 at 1:30 at the Salem Congregational Church in Salem with Rev. Harold Dorsey officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery rural Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. The family invites everyone to a luncheon prior to the service at the church at noon on Thursday. Memorials may be directed to the Animal Rescue Foundation or to the Salem Fire Department.
Mayme was born on June 6, 1915, in Henry County, Iowa, the daughter of W.E. "Ted" & Donnie Krakel Detrick. She was united in marriage to Charles D. Littrell on July 16, 1949, at Harmon. Illinois. She worked at the Iowa Ammunition Plant at Middletown, and later at Bendix in Davenport. She lived in Davenport, Milan Illinois and California before returning to Salem and later to Mt. Pleasant. She enjoyed gardening and her flowers.
She is survived by her brother: Walt Detrick and his wife Mary of New London, and her sisters: Francis "Pat" Anthony of Davenport and Leah Rhum and her husband Claude of Mt. Pleasant. Several nieces and nephews. Her special friend Marilyn Smithburg of Salem.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and six sisters.
