Michael Grieser Obituary

Michael Lee Grieser 65, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2015, at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Dean Graber officiating. Memorials may be directed to the Great River Hospice in his memory. Following the memorial services the family will receive friends for a time of fellowship at the Calvary Baptist Church.

Michael was born on August 5, 1949, in Detroit Lakes, MN the son of Maurice Benjamin & Leila Sarah Yoder Grieser. He was a graduate of Waco High School in the class of 1967. He was united in marriage to LaVaughn English in June of 1971 at Trenton, Iowa they later divorced and he married Donna Kaspar on October 27, 1979 in Jennings, KS, they later divorced. Michael over the years farmed, worked on a ranch and was a chef. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing but most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Kristine (Nick) Smith of Champion, NE, Michelle (Kurt) Kirkland of Vero Beach, FL, Rebecca (Carl) Chapman of Nassau, NY, Amy Grieser of New London, Andrew (Bethany) Grieser of Dubuque and Sarah Mathews; 16 grandchildren and one great granddaughter; three brothers: Robert (Leah) Grieser of Ames, Melvin Grieser of Mt. Pleasant, Dwight (Rhonda) Grieser of Des Moines and one sister: Janice (Marvin) Yaley of Mt. Pleasant; his aunt Beulah Wittrig of West Point, NE and his uncle Leonard (Betty) Grieser of Wayland.

Michael is preceded in death by his parents, one sister Cynthia and one nephew Kenton.
