Orville Boal Obituary

Orville Dale Boal 85 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, October 22, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Regan Stoops officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with a flag presentation by the Henry County Honor Guard. Friends may call after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Beatty-Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. Memorials have been established to the First Baptist Church or to the Fellowship Cup both of Mt. Pleasant.

Dale was born on August 19, 1922, in Henry County, Iowa the son of Charles Freeman & Fern Sprinkle Boal. He graduated from Lockridge High School in 1940. He served his country during World War II as a radio operator in the United States Army. Overseas for three years he saw service on Iwo Jima after the island was secured as a landing base for bombers. Following his study at Iowa Wesleyan College he entered training in 1949 as a mortician in St. Louis, Missouri and worked at Cookes Funeral Home and later was employed at the Crane Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. He later worked at Heatilator and finally at Blue Bird Midwest until his retirement.

He was united in marriage on April 22, 1949 to Irene Dodds; they had three children and grandfather of six grandchildren. Dale was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant, serving on various boards and committees, and as treasurer and as deacon. His fondest joys were his children and their mates and his grandchildren. He also enjoyed march music and hymns.

Dale is survived by his wife Irene, his daughter Bonnie Allen and her husband Jim of Waukee, Iowa two sons, Ted and his wife Debra of Maple Grove, Minnesota and Scott and his wife Lana of Everett, Washington. Six grandchildren: Brad Boal, Eric and his wife Beth Boal, Stephen Boal, Elizabeth Boal, Stephanie Allen and Brian Allen. Four sister-in-laws Evelynn Boal of Wichita KS, Betty Dodds of Corpus Christi, TX Beverly Dodds Gosselink of Runnells IA, and Mary Jeanne Dodds of Clinton, IA. Several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother George.
