Paul H. Shaklee, 85, formerly of Stockport area passed away on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at the Woodland Manor in Conroe, Texas.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2009 at 2:30 p.m. at the Spencer Cemetery rural Stockport, Iowa with Rev. Linda Renken officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Spencer Cemetery.
Paul was born on April 19, 1923 in Enid, Oklahoma the only child of Warren & Effa Reed Shaklee. When Paul was a year old when he and his family moved to Stockport, Iowa. Paul grew up there and graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1941. Paul went on to join the Army during WWII from 1942 to 1945. He was assigned to Washington DC and among other duties he was assigned as one of the presidential guards to Franklin Roosevelt. Later he was reassigned to receive medical training in Washington State and worked as a medical driver overseas in France and Germany. He was united in marriage to Martha Marsh and they lived in Mt. Pleasant for a few years before moving to the Stockport area working as a farmer, a pulp wood contractor and later as a truck driver. In 1976 they retired and moved to Ankeny, Iowa to live close to family, and then in 1998 they moved to Spring, Texas and later to Conroe, Texas to be close to there daughter.
He is survived by his children: Carroll Shaklee of Quincy, Illinois, Paula Nelson and Leroy Shaklee both of Conroe, Texas. 6 grandchildren: Kristie Tamsevicius, Troy Housman, Aaron Housman, Ann Shaklee, Allan Shaklee and April Shaklee. 6 great grandchildren: Jacob, Nicholas, Emily and Issac Housman, Nicole and Brandon Tamsevivius.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
