R. Dean Rose, 79 of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11th at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Burial with full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard will be held in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call after noon on Sunday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 2 to 4 p.m. Memorial may be directed to the Mt. Pleasant Little League or to the Henry County Humane Society.
Dean was born on January 20, 1932 in Bloomfield, Iowa the son of Frank &Avis Coop Rose. He was united in marriage to Clodene Adams on April 24, 1954 at the Willard Street Baptist Church in Ottumwa. He served his country in the Army, following his honorable discharge he returned to Mt. Pleasant and worked for Skellgas and then later Mt. Pleasant Electric for 45 yrs. He coached soft ball and little league and was one of the founders of the Mt. Pleasant Little League Complex. He enjoyed camping, traveling to Colorado and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of Mt. Pleasant, and his children: Brian (Carol) Rose of Mt. Pleasant, and Teresa (Garry) Koopmans of Gladstone, Illinois, five grandchildren, two brothers: Loyd (Shirley) Rose and Basil Rose all of Mt. Pleasant, one sister Doris Hulen of Ottumwa, his brother-in-law Keith Long of Mt. Pleasant.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Donald and Bobby and one sister: Vonda.
