Ralph Draper Obituary

The Reverend Ralph L. Draper 84, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hess officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial has been established to Calvary Baptist Church.

Ralph was born on May 29, 1929, at Sutherland, Iowa the son of Lester & Mary Dodge Draper. He graduated from Sutherland High School in 1947, and was united in marriage to Eleanor L. Hyndman on June 8, 1952, at the Cumberland Baptist Church. Ralph graduated from The Omaha Baptist Institute in 1951, and had pastored churches for over 50 years which included Assistant Pastor at the Fundamental Berean Bible Church, Cumming Community Church, Beacon Bible Church, Grant Bible Church, Green Mound Church of God, Salem Church of God and Pleasant Grove Community Church. Ralph was a member of the Olds Lions Club, and served on various positions of the national and state level of the Churches of God. Ralph had worked for Montgomery Wards; he enjoyed nature and had a strong love for his Lord, and his family.

He is survived by his wife Eleanor of 61 years of Mt. Pleasant, and his children; David Draper of Rockford, Illinois, Stephen Draper (Laura) of Taylor, Michigan and Martha (Vernon) Tannahill of Spring City, Tennessee; 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, twin brother Ray, brothers; Darrel, James and an infant brother Ronald and a sister Eleanor.
