Randy J. Baxter

Randy Joel Baxter, 67, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at his home.

 Randy was born on February 12, 1956, the son of James Gregory and Lois Eileen (Bauer) Baxter.  He was united in marriage to the love of his heart, Vivian M. Long on September 11, 1976, in Mt. Pleasant.  She preceded him in death on March 22, 2021.  Randy had many different interests.  He enjoyed collecting classic cars, working on cars, coins, guns, treasure hunting, mushrooming and Midwest Old Threshers buttons.  There wasn’t anything he couldn’t fix.  Randy was a maintenance electrician for many years and owned his own repair business.  He was a great provider for his family and loved the time he spent with his grandchildren.  Randy had a very caring heart.

 He is survived by his children, Melinda “Mindy” Scott (Jeff Hartman), of Fairfield, Clint Randall (Rikki) Baxter, of Burlington and Paige Baxter (JJ Allen) of Sperry, seven grandchildren, his brothers and sisters, Jimmie (Donna) Baxter, Joe Baxter, Dianne Chrisinger, Judy (Denny) Bozarth, Mike (Namora) Baxter, Greg Baxter, Lynda (Ron) Crawford, Sherry Nelson, and Brian Baxter, along with many nieces and nephews.

 Randy was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers, Jerry Baxter and Raymond Baxter.

 Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.  Burial will follow in the St. Alphonsus Catholic Cemetery.  Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 7 p.m. that evening.  A memorial has been established in his memory.
