Ray Dean Gillespie, 75, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Ray was born on March 15, 1948, in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Dewey and Martha Lucille (Stogdill-Bowman) Gillespie. He worked as a truck driver, West Liberty Foods, Walmart Distribution Center and was currently working at Wemiga Waste Systems of Mt. Pleasant. Ray enjoyed spending time at Midwest Old Threshers and was a part of the Midwest Central Railroad as a conductor. He enjoyed driving around the country side taking photos.
Ray is survived by his lifelong companion, Donna Crawley, of Mt. Pleasant, and several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Kenneth Gillespie.
Ray's family will host a celebration of his life on Monday, June 12, 2023, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Rome Lunchbox. According to his wishes cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.
