Raymond Hunter Obituary

Raymond C. Hunter 94, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2016,
at his home in Mt. Pleasant.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 11, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Deborah Stowers officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and or to HCI Care Services in his memory.

Raymond was born on July 1, 1921, southeast of Mt. Pleasant the son of Mark E. & Bessie Hockett Hunter. He graduated from Mt., Pleasant High School in 1940, and was united in marriage to Betty Marie Burky on December 11, 1943. Raymond started his career of farming with his father after high school and later began farming on his own in 1944, in Henry County and Jefferson County until he retired after 45 years and moving to Mt. Pleasant. He was a Director of Glendale Country School west of Lockridge, was on the Board of Directors of Supply Co-op for 10 years, along with the Board of Directors of the Henry County Credit Union. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed fishing, mushroom hunting and hunting.

Raymond is survived by his wife Betty of Mt. Pleasant and his sons; Robert (Renee) Hunter of Hillsboro and Daniel (Deanna) Hunter of Harrison, Arkansas, 3 grandchildren; Dianne (Scott) Kemp, Mark (Gina) Hunter and Michael (Stephanie) Hunter, and 4 great grandchildren; Rob Pohren, Courtney Kemp, Kristin Kemp and Leah Hunter along with nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Walter Hunter.
