Richard W. Lamb 69 of Middletown and formerly of Salem passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 at his home.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Michael Mayfield officiating. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials have been established to the Roseville United Methodist Church or to the Great River Hospice in his memory.
Richard was born on January 20, 1939 in Ekley County Colorado the son of Clarence E. & Anna Mae Beechley Lamb. He grew up in Salem and graduated from Salem High School in 1957. Richard was united in marriage to Mary Lee Jahn on April 5, 2008 in Middletown, Iowa. He worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown for 36 years, and had also worked at the Catfish Bend as a dealer for 7 years. He was an avid Cubs fan, and enjoyed spending time with his family, and traveling.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Middletown, and his children: Patricia DuFour of New London, Brenda Hand of Mt. Pleasant, Jerry Lamb of Fairfield, Bryan Twidwell of Mt. Pleasant and Victoria Pearson of Fairfield. 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. His step-children: Jan Jahn of Denver, CO, Julie Jahn of Roseville, IL, William Jahn of Columbus Junction and Michelle Jahn of Roseville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one son James, one brother David and two sisters: Marie Lamb and Eva Waterhouse and three sisters in infancy.
