Robert Earl Carlson, 93, of Olds passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2015, at Arbor Court in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 8, 2015, at the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church with Pastor Mark Youngquist officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2015 at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Memorials may be directed to the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church in his memory.
Robert was born on June 16, 1921, on the family farm in rural Henry County the son of Rupert M. & Mabel V. Ostrom Carlson. He was united in marriage to Betty E. Mark on May 20, 1944, at the Sperry United Methodist Church. Robert was a W.W II Veteran serving his country in the Navy on the USS Gandy. He farmed his entire life with his son, and had served on the Olds consolidated School Board, Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church Board, and Henry County Credit Union Board along with various other organizations. He was a member of the Swedesburg Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Legion.
Robert is survived by his wife Betty of Mt. Pleasant, his two daughters: Janice (Jim) Henss of Mt. Pleasant, Lori (John) Daniel of Aurora, Colorado, nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Donald E. Carlson and one sister, Florence Davis.
