Robert Hoover Obituary
Robert A. Hoover 80, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013, at the Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 9, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Deb Savage officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m and on Tuesday from 12:30 to service time. Memorials may be directed to Pheasants Forever and or to Ducks Unlimited in his memory.
Bob "Great White Hunter" was born on September 8, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant the son of Stephen & Mary Lutisha Swailes Hoover. He served in the National Guard from 1951 to 1955, He was united in marriage to Jewel Hatfield on November 7, 1957, in Mt. Pleasant, and she preceded him in death on April 24, 2013. He worked at the Iowa Ammunition Plant in Middletown from 1952 to 1976, the later at the Mt. Pleasant Correctional Facility in Mt. Pleasant retiring in 1996. He was an avid outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. Bob was a member of the Moose Lodge of Mt. Pleasant, Pheasant Forever, and Ducks Unlimited.
He is survived his children: Nancy (Martin) Amos of Mt. Pleasant, Jennifer Hoover of Dallas, Texas and Dan Hoover of Bedford, Texas, grandchildren: Janeane Amos, Brandon Hoover and Brent Hoover; great grandson; Dominick Lopez; one sister Ida Mae Barron of New London.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Jewel; 2 brothers Patrick and Herbert, and one sister Mary Lou Prottsman.
