Robert L. Starman, 86, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City.
Bob was born on June 28, 1937, in Burlington, the son of Harvey and Martha (Steffener) Starman. Bob served his country in the United States Army from December 10, 1956 until he was Honorably discharged on November 16, 1957. Bob was united in marriage on July 30, 1966, in Kahoka, Missouri to Shirley Kay Lane. He worked for Heatilator of Mt. Pleasant, Conrad American of Houghton and later for Klein Manufacturing. He loved all sports but especially football. His favorite team was the Dallas Cowboys. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed the time he spent with them. Bob had attended First Baptist Church of Mt. Pleasant.
Bob is survived by his wife, Shirley of 57 years, his daughters, Alison Starman and Tina (Kris) Kreutner all of Mt. Pleasant, his two grandsons, Tyler Starman and Joshua Kreutner, one brother, Dennis Starman of California, along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Bradley Starman and nine brothers, Gary Starman, Dale Starman, David Starman, Kenny Starman, Jim Starman, Harvey Starman, Bill Starman, William Starman and Don Starman, and five sisters, Ethel Carlson, Carol Burk, Edna Poggemiller, Jean Pressley and Doris Hurley.
Graveside Services will be held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of Forest Home Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Dan Buck officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Home Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m on Thursday at the Murphy Funeral Home where the family will be present from 4 to 6 p.m. that evening. Memorials may be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children in his memory.
