Roxie Bishop Obituary
Roxie L. Bishop 75 of Glasgow, Iowa and Clinton, Illinois passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2012, at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will be in the Glasgow Cemetery rural Lockridge. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home where the family will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial has been established to the Glasgow Cemetery in his memory.
Roxie was born on June 19, 1937, on the family farm at Glasgow the son of Charles and Opal Louise Bower Bishop. He graduated from Fairfield High School had attended Iowa Wesleyan College in Mt. Pleasant and graduated from the University of Missouri. Roxie was united in marriage to Jean C. Barnes on January 19, 2012 at Clinton, Illinois. He retired from Millwright in Bloomington, Illinois. Roxie enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He was a member of the Eagles Arie 593 of Clinton, Illinois and the Elks Lodge in Fairfield, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife Jean and three daughters: Patti (Todd) Hinthorn, Paula (Joe) Edwards and Penny (Dale) Long all of Clinton, Illinois; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren along with several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
