Suzanne Hartley Smith, 73, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
Private graveside services will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Earl Swigart officiating. Friends may call after 2 p.m. on Friday at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A memorial has been established for her grandchildren's education.
Suzanne was born on June 17, 1938, in Henry County, the daughter of Dr. Bryon & Armilda Vanderwilt Hartley. She was united in marriage to Edward L. Smith in 1962.
Suzanne enjoyed wildlife, and was the president of Iowolfer Association for many years.
Suzanne is survived by her husband of Mt. Pleasant and her children: William Sanders of Hills, James Sanders of Kalona, and Edward Smith of Mt. Pleasant and Angela Aldridge of Woodward; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
