Tade Spencer Geeding-much anticipated- was born February 20th, 1983 to James G. and Pamela Deierling Geeding of rural Salem, Iowa. Later, his family moved to Mt. Pleasant where Tade spent his childhood and teenage years.
Tade has one sister, Alaine, currently attending De Pauw University School of Music in Greencastle, Indiana. His grandparents are Frank and Lila Tade Deierling of Buffalo, Sid and Vicky Geeding of Buffalo, and Retha Spencer Vargus and her husband Clem, of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also loved and will be missed by aunts and uncles and cousins.
Tade is a summa cum laude 2001 graduate of Mt. Pleasant Community High School. During his years there, he was in band, choir, and show choir. Tade participated in Iowa All State for French horn and also numerous honor bands. He was the 2001 winner of John Phillip Sousa band award. Besides music activities, Tade ran Cross Country and Track/Field throughout middle school and high school. He was the district champion in Cross Country and the Mt. Pleasant Track and Field program won state and two runners up titles during his time on the team. Tade loved to sing and a highlight of his high school career was being cast as "Tony" in West Side Story.
Also during high school, Tade spent a summer touring with the Continental Singers, performing in the western United States, as well as New Zealand and Vanuatu.
Tade, a James Millikin Scholar, graduated with honors from Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois with a degree in Commercial Music in 2005. He was a member of the University Choir and loved Millikin's Vesper's Program and traveling with the choir in the winter. Tade was a composer of lyrical piano music as well as a writer of contemporary songs. His James Milliken Scholar project was the writing of a book of piano solos. Also, he was involved with a rock band and an accapella group while at Millikin. Tade was the student box office manager for Kirkland Fine Arts Center.
After college, Tade managed the box office for Sangamon Auditorium in Springfield, Illinois. He left Springfield to pursue his music career in Minneapolis, Minn. in the fall of 2007. Music was his passion and there was nothing more he enjoyed than performing with his band. That band included close friends from Mt. Pleasant.
Tade leaves behind many accomplishments. Most importantly he leaves behind family and friends who have been so blessed to have known him. Tade was witty, upbeat, and continually the Tigger. This "Tade-R-Bug" loved harassing his sister, was a part of the "cousin-10", and was always surrounded by friends. No parents could ask for more than the joy that he gave to us. Our hearts are heavy with loss, yet we are also left with beautiful memories and the legacy of his musical compositions, his recordings, and his words. Until we meet again, Tade Spencer.
A community Celebration of Life service will be held Thursday, March 26th, at 6:30 p.m., at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church northwest of Mt. Pleasant. (1209 Franklin Ave, Wayland, Iowa). In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been designated for promoting music in the Mt. Pleasant Schools and Community.
