Verlee L. Millspaugh 87 of Burlington and former resident of the Rome community passed away on Friday, March 21, 2008 at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington.
Graveside Services will be held on Monday, March 24, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. at the Grant Cemetery at Rome with the Rev. Ed Newman officiating. There will be no visitation at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A memorial has been established and may be left at the funeral home.
Verlee was born on March 7, 1921 at Kingston, Iowa the daughter of John and Vera Partington Dickey. She was united in marriage to Merrill Millspaugh on July 4, 1939 at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Burlington. They lived in Burlington for 4 years before moving to the Rome community to farm where they lived for 40 years.
She is survived by her husband Merrill of Burlington, one sister Mabel Pearsall of Burlington. Four half brothers: Don Dickey and Harvey Dickey of Wapello, Raymond Dickey of Illinois and John Dickey of California. Five half sisters: Karen Holub, Hilda Dryer and Margie Knight all of Wapello and Ruth Little of Florida, and step sister Venita Boyd of California.
She is preceded in death by her parents, one brother, one half sister and one half brother.
