Wayne Wells Obituary

Wayne B. Wells, age 82 of Grand Island, Nebraska and a former area resident passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at the Tabitha Nursing Home in Lincoln Nebraska.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Friends may call after 2:00 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the Salem East Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the Henry County Honor Guard. A memorial has been established in his memory.

Wayne was born on April 9, 1926, in Lincoln, Nebraska the son of Elery & Pauline Wells. He graduated from Ashland High School in 1944, after his graduation he and his family moved to Mt. Pleasant. He enlisted in the Army Air Corp. and was honorable discharged in 1946, obtaining the rank of SGT. On August 30, 1947 he was united in marriage to Mary Jean Moehle in Mt. Pleasant. He went on to graduate from the University of Nebraska with a journalism degree. While living in Norfolk, Nebraska he worked as a news broadcaster for WJAG radio station, He and his family moved back to Oskaloosa, Iowa where he was a sales representative selling steel buildings and fertilizer equipment. After moving back to Nebraska he managed a grain elevator. He moved to Aurora, Nebraska opened his own business selling used fertilizer equipment until his retirement.

Wayne is survived by his children: Douglas Wells and his wife Bobbi of Lincoln, Nebraska, Donald Wells of Oxford , Iowa, and Jeffery Wells of Oskaloosa, Iowa. 4 grandchildren: Amy Wells, Eric Wells, Matt Wells and Jenny Breitenfeld. 2 step grandchildren: Mike and Karri Morgan and 1 step great grandchild: Taylor Morgan, and daughter-in-law: Janet Wells of Ainsworth, Nebraska.

He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and one son Michael.
