Wayne Woodson Obituary
Wayne O. Woodson 89, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, at the Great River Medical Center in Burlington.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will receive friends from 9:30 until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. A memorial has been established in his memory
Wayne was born on April 2, 1925, Rock Island, Illinois the son of Walter A. & Cora O. Colbert Woodson. He had worked at the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown, Sweet Heart Bakery of Burlington, and Blue Bird Midwest of Mt. Pleasant and later at the Mental Health Institute of Mt. Pleasant. He enjoyed bowling, watching football, basketball, playing bingo, going fishing, watching Wheel of Fortune and Price is Right and painting.
He is survived by his children: Pauline Thornton, Dwayne Woodson (Toni Sempf), Tina Sammons (Mike Leyda) all of Mt. Pleasant and Jacky (Angie) Woodson of Brighton; 10 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Wayne "Woody" Woodson, one grandson: Joshua Crowl and two brothers: Lavern Woodson and Floyd Woodson.
