Wendell Litton Obituary

Wendell L. Litton 81, of Mt. Pleasant passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the New London Nursing and Rehab Center in New London.

According to his wishes his body has been cremated. Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Great River Hospice in his memory.

Wendell was born on June 18, 1932, at Salem the son of Paul Thomas & Ruby Mae Foraker Litton. He was united in marriage to Betty Mae Grinstead on November 1, 1949. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2009. He was an Army Veteran and served his country during the Korean Conflict. He was a cement finisher and a member of the Local 484 Plaster/Cement Finishers Union and a member of the New London V.F.W. Wendell enjoyed gardening.

Wendell is survived by his children: Holly Fay (Virgil) Hanson of Cedar Rapids, Terry Lee Schifferns (Jeff Gerdes) of Kearney, Nebraska, Sandra Sue Potts of Kileen, Texas and Conny Gay Brake (Larry) of North Port, Florida; 8 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; his sister Beverly Hodson of Mt. Pleasant.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Virgil T. Litton and one sister Amy Holden.

Wendell's family would like to thank the Department of Human Services, Henry County Social Services and Great River Home Health Care for helping Wendell stay in his home. The New London Nursing and Rehab Center and the Great River Hospice Care when he could no longer live at home; and a special thank you to Bill Judd for being there when we could not.
