Willa Church Obituary
Willa M. Church 77 of Mt. Pleasant and former Lockridge resident passed away Friday evening, April 24, 2009 at the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jerry Phillips officiating. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in the White Oak Cemetery rural Rome, Iowa. A memorial has been established in her memory.
Willa was born on November 10, 1931, in Mt. Pleasant the daughter of Max E. & Ruby L. Parker Woods. She was united in marriage to Howard R. Church on June 16, 1947 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. She had worked at Ruby's Cleaners, Metro Mail Group, Garrison Equipment, Iowa Army Ammunition Plant, and the Mental Health Institute. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and had done volunteer work for Community Action of Mt. Pleasant.
She is survived by her children: Sheila Church of Mt. Pleasant, Vickie Church of Davenport and Tom Church of Mediapolis. 5 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Two sisters: Regina Ackles of Trenton, Shirley Stevens of Mt. Pleasant and two brothers James Woods and Charles Woods both of Mt. Pleasant.
Willa was preceded in death by her parents, husband one son Wayne and three sisters.
