Zachery Thomas Szalma

Zachery Thomas Szalma, 46, of Keokuk passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at the Southeast Iowa Regional Hospital in Ft. Madison.

 Zach was born on December 22, 1977, in Virginia, the son of Daniel and Joan Marie (Riker) Szalma.  Zach was united in marriage to Alisha Harwood on November 13, 2010. From this union two boys were born, Ryder and Zoltan.  They later separated. Following the separation, Zach became engaged to Miranda Graham.  Zach was an outgoing person.  He lived for his children and they were his world.  He was full of energy and never met a stranger.  He had a passion for cooking and loved to share with others.  Zach will be missed by those who knew him.

 He is survived by his children, Ryder and Zoltan, the children’s mother, Alisha, and his fiancé,  Miranda, all of Keokuk, his mother, Joan Marie Szalma, of New London, his grandmother, Susanne Riker, of Mt. Pleasant,  along with several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

 Zach was preceded in death by his father, Daniel, his two brothers, Jeff Szalma and Kurt Ammerman, his sister, Stacy Ammerman, his grandfather, Walter Riker.

 Private family services will be held at the Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.  Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Murphy Funeral Home of Mt. Pleasant.  A memorial has been established in his memory.
